Shoe-mood analysis: he’s a bit of a renegade at heart, but knows how to pull it together in a professional way.  (Most Chelsea boot guys wear them because with pants they look like regular dress shoes — professional, polished.  But they know that really they’ve got a rockin’ boot on.  So they can walk into a board meeting but still feel like a rebel!)

S&TC FAVORITE SHOE MOMENT

Favorite moment number two is when Carrie has a fabulous new pair of Christian Louboutin’s — hot pink Stiletto sandals with a feather.  She is sailing around Central Park with Big and gets a call from Miranda — she’s in labor.  Carrie rushes to the hospital, and Miranda’s water breaks  . . . right on her new Louboutins. A pair of shoes has died, but a baby is born.

We asked the ever-major Jason Campbell, Editor in Chief of esteemed style bulletin, JCREPORT, if he had ever had a favorite pair of shoes ruined and here’s what he had to say:

“I had a gorgeous paid of sand-colored Dries Van Noten canvas shoes and on a jaunty stroll in Brazil a pigeon relieved itself on these most prized possession. I was gutted but thankfully I have nearly 100 pair of shoes in my footwear arsenal. There’s always another option. But I really do love those Dries lace ups, I’ve never seen them anywhere else.  In fact I still have the shoes with the plans to dye them to camouflage that oh so unpleasant spot de merde.”

DESIGNER PROFILE OF THE WEEK

I first was introduced to shoe designer Eileen Shields about four years ago.  This Irish lass makes fantastic creations, in gorgeous leathers, and continues to innovate every season with new shapes and forms.  Her T-strap mary jane, also known as the Juliette, has become a ubiquitous fashion staple among Hollywood elite from Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore, and she was commissioned personally by Stiletto-lover Eva Longoria herself to create a shoe for her character in Desperate Housewives. (It’s the sassy shoe you see a picture of above).  Spring 08 is gorgeous platforms with cutout peep-toes, lucite heels and elegant strappy sandals in materials like mirror platinums and rich suedes, with pitch-perfect detailing from a feather to a twisted leather bow.  We look forward to Fall with baited breath.

“I also loved the missing Blahniks baby shower episode & definitely relate to the “Single & Fabulous Shoe Registry”! I inherited shoephilia from Mom. Shoe of choice: Blahniks, but have affinity for all the “good” ones. Most paid: $1,000 for a Swarovsky crystal Rene Caovilla I’ve never worn…impulse buy. Like lint rollers at the cash register. So I, too, justify often & ever so wisely that I can always eat next week. Great for stick figure, but don a 9.5 pump & I’m closely resembling Olive Oil. I’ve broken leg/ankle/foot twice.

And although I weed them out often, they must breed, as shoes cont’ to dictate where I live & moving them is an ordeal. In a new loft, an improperly installed “wall” of shoes fell on me. While sprawled on floor, I could only think of the irony & how funny my obit would read.

I must mention that Manolo Blahnik truly stole my heart when asked by interviewer (in early STC days) if he resented being ID’d with controversial STC, esp Samantha-types of dubious character. He quickly replied that he was not only flattered, as he designs sexy shoes, but he also loves slutty Samantha-types.”

Ok ladies, What do you think about this? Katie wearing super bright orange with cobalt blue heels! As we know blue and orange are complimentary colors on the color wheel, but what do you think it says about her? It is a very fresh take on all the amazing poppy Spring colors we’ve been seeing that is for sure. Her dress is purposely just above maxi length as well so we we SEE THOSE SHOES.

The blue shoe thing kinda reminds me of my Bridal Shoe advice - maybe people will be more accepting of pairing blue shoes with their wedding dresses seeing how fresh it looks peeping out from under a long gown.

Anyhoo, My shoe-mood analysis: very adventurous! as in “take that fashion world! i’m not afraid to walk the edge and take a risk! and look good doing it.”

S&TC FAVORITE SHOE MOMENT

One of our favorite shoe moments in Sex & the City (the series), is the day Miranda and Carrie are in shoe shop and Carrie realizes that she has spent so much money on shoes during her time in Manhattan, that she could have bought an apartment with her shoe budget. She is literally the woman who lives in her shoe.

We asked the ever-fabulous Budget Fashionista, Kathryn Finney, what was the most amount of money she ever spent on a pair of shoes.

Here’s what she said:

It was around $250-$300. It was a pair of Charles Jordan boots from Nordstrom and I bought them about 15 years ago. Back in the day, sistas with big feet were pretty much sh*t out of luck. This was probably the first pair of shoes available in a size 11 in the state of Minnesota that didn’t look like orthopaedic shoes. At the time the only place to find shoes in size 11 was Nordstrom or the granny shoe shops. It’s hard to rock a fresh pair of Girbaud jeans with a pair of nursing shoes! When I finally got them I felt really good that they weren’t mauve with thick plastic soles!

DESIGNER PROFILE OF THE WEEK

Tashkent by Cheyenne Morris is new luxury shoe line that is shaking footwear shapes up. I had a chance to meet up with her at her New York showroom a few weeks back and was absolutely slayed by the cheeky details, yet sophisticated and sculputural silhouettes she was showing for Fall. Can you say fur-lined ankle booties with cutouts? Personally, I have worn The Schevchenko almost everyday since I got them. They are the perfect Spring complement to any ensemble. This Contest is void where prohibited by applicable law. Winners may be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and applicable tax forms as a condition to the delivery of the applicable prize. The Sex and the City Shoe Therapy contest is open only to residents of the 50 United States of America or the District of Columbia who are 18 years or older as of May 7, 2008.

How to Enter

Got to catch up with the girls (and guys!) from the Sex and the City movie this weekend at the junket in New York.  I also got to SEE the movie — and I must say you will love, love, love it.  It is all about that amazing girlfriend connection these four women have, and the eternal quest for true love — done with a very light touch and an amazing focus on their inner intimate lives in such an amazing way.  There was not a dry eye in the house either.

Chatted with Sarah Jessica, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Jennifer Hudson in person on Sunday. Yes they were all wearing Stilettos and you know what that means.

Kristin: Shoe: nude platform three strap stiletto sandals, very gladiator-esque: Mood: engaged, sophisticated and real

Jennifer: Shoe: simple black pointy toe stilettos: Mood: I threw these on because I had to! (turns out, Jennifer is really a barefoot girl who loves bags wayyyy more than shoes! Stay tuned this month for more on that.)

And let me put to rest any rumors about any of them not getting along — there was so much hugging and squealing going on you might have thought they hadn’t seen each other in years!  Let me also attest to their natural beauty as well – they all looked even more gorgeous than they do in the film if that is possible.  SJP was rocking the fashion feeling in a big way –bottle green Lanvin dress and clutch, bracelets from those-in-the-know vintage showroom Seedhouse, the abovementioned (and shown) Proenza platforms.

She’s written a book, “The Perfect Fit: What Your Shoes Say About You”. She hosts her own “Shoe Therapy” show on the Home Shopping Network. She’s shared her shoe expertise on the Today Show, Tyra, Extra! and the CBS Early Show. She covers all angles of kicks for the JCReport and the New York Daily News. I caught up with Michigan’s own Meghan Cleary, also known as Miss Meghan, “America’s Shoe Expert” to get the scoop on her much sought after career, those things called Crocs and what makes the perfect pair…

Is being a “shoe expert” something you even dreamed of as a career choice in high school or college?

No, never! Well, I knew that it’d be writing to some capacity and I’d always loved fashion and I’ve always loved marketing. I’m a communicator- connector person. And I love, love, love shoes. I learn something new everyday about shoes

So you pretty much turned three things you love into a career?

Yes, exactly

Now sneakers have definitely grown a ton in popularity, do you dabble in sneakers?

Sneakers are a whole nother thing! Yeah, there’s this guy who knows all about sneakers, Bobbito Garcia. He’s the male version of me, so I just leave that all up to him.

I read that your favorite shoes are your Azzedine Alaia python pumps because they make you feel confident, strong and sexy. What components, regardless of men’s or women’s, should a pair of shoes possess to become the perfect shoe? Is it like finding the perfect mate?

I’m really about shoes and mood. The thing about shoes you have to remember is that more than any other thing you put on your body, shoes affect you most on a physiological level. It affects how you work and feel. It affects you on a fashion level and a beauty level as well. A boyfriend, well that’s more external. I’m a firm believer in wearing what works for you, confidence-wise, style-wise. You might feel great in a metallic clog with perforations while Mary next door likes strappy stilettos.”
